My client a reputable and established professional membership body is currently searching for a Policy Manager

 

The Role

 

The policy team provides a focal point for most external stakeholder engagement (bar employers),  policy reports, consultations and thought leadership activities at the Institute.

 

The main purpose of the Policy Manager role is to manage campaigns, and to bring together policy, engagement and thought leadership activity projects to ensure effective delivery against the corporate plan. This could include but is not limited to:

 

External policy projects and campaigns - from scoping to dissemination

Engagement with external stakeholders including research and policy collaboration

Coordinating and project managing the content of thought leadership events

Developing and mapping stakeholders for each campaign and appropriate dissemination plans to these stakeholders

Developing ideas and delivering broader ways to promote thought leadership, including research report initiatives, webinars, managing support research and engagement. polling and other research as required

Build and develop new stakeholder relationships

Work with other teams, e.g. Communities Engagement to help utilise member-led research, as well as liaising with the Markets Development team on initiatives

Managing any external agencies, if commissioned

Developing of new and innovative ideas for institute thought leadership

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

Essential:

 

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Track record of delivering projects, campaigns and external impact including media and political audiences, to tight deadlines and to a high quality.

Strong knowledge of the political and policy environment impacting the actuarial profession and its strategic objectives

Background in financial services. Political or consultancy experience also useful.

Ability to learn new subject matter quickly and make connections.

Planning and organising skills.

Strong analytical skills

Confident user of Microsoft Office and strong IT skills more generally.

Strong problem solving skills and work on own initiative.

 

Desirable:

Creative thinking to support alternative approaches to dissemination.

Experience of working with publications or journals and promoting and developing web content. Experience of being involved in organising events
