Hybrid Working – at least 2 Days Office Based Central London, 1-3 Days Home Based

Our client a leading professional representative body with 17,000 individual members in England and Wales is currently recruiting for a Head of Governance

 

The Role of Head of Governance

 

To develop, secure and identify fit-for-purpose governance arrangements for the body, putting appropriate structures and systems in place to ensure adherence to constitutional documentation, statutory obligations, governance principles and governance best practices across the body and its committees.

The postholder will lead on the development, design and implementation of the body’s and strategic planning process ensuring that business plans feed into, and are aligned with, the overall strategic objectives.

The postholder will also be responsible for managing the system of internal governance controls that cover risk monitoring, regulatory independence and the provision of information from the regulator.

The postholder will manage 3 x direct reports – executive support assistant, committee governance officer and executive officer

Person Specification

 

Essential

 

Educated to postgraduate level or equivalent experience

Understanding and a willingness to learn more of the structure of the legal profession

Solid experience of business planning, including co-ordination and embedding corporate strategic objectives

Solid experience of leading the development and implementation of changing business processes and governance structures to promote efficiency

Solid technical experience in Corporate Governance matters

Strong ability to initiate and develop reporting mechanisms and performance measurement tools

Confident use of standard technology for sophisticated business use: Outlook, Word, Excel

Meticulous attention to detail

Strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture and to identify unforeseen consequential events arising from decisions made or changes to policies/processes

Significant communication skills: ability to convey information clearly and accurately, orally and in writing

Excellent organisational skills,

Good understanding of project management principles

Strong problem-solving skills: ability to provide constructive advice and analyse information and adopt a solution focused approach

Demonstrable events management experience

Excellent record keeping skills

Excellent organisational skills.

 

Desirable

 

ICSA certificate in corporate governance

Foundation level data protection qualification

Translating policy objectives into practical programmes for delivery

Good experience of records management practice including record retention and disposal.

Knowledge of company law
