Director of Membership, Marketing and Engagement

Northamptonshire – 2 Days Office, 3 Days Home

Basic Salary £65,000-£75,000 with 26 Days Holiday and pension 9% employers contribution

Permanent, Full Time

 

Our client a well-respected and reputable UK professional membership body with approx. 12,000 individual members and 170 corporate members based in Northamptonshire is currently looking for a Director of Membership, Marketing and Engagement.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO and part of the SMT team, this is a senior level role with the institute with responsibility for the Membership, Marketing & Engagement functions of the organisation.

You will be responsible for ensuring that your allocated business areas perform to budget, and that you deliver value-based propositions that add value to our members by delivering a first-class customer experience to members and organisations alike.

You will lead and have the support of a team of 6 direct reports and 20 further employees and engage with volunteers leading our Nations, Regions and Professional Community activities. 

Responsibilities: 

You will be responsible for ensuring that your allocated business areas perform to budget, and that you deliver value

You will input into corporate strategy and business plans with responsibility for creating and delivering membership experiences that add value to all members. 

You will lead and deliver innovative engagement strategies that support growth and retention in membership utilising direct communications, social media and web.

Working across all departments within the institute you will lead on the marketing strategy and develop and deliver campaigns  to support growth, increased market share and financial performance

You will ensure that the membership process for new and renewing members is first class and seamless using online processes and automation wherever possible.

To review membership services/benefits by grade and ensure that these are differentiated and including the creation of affinity packages through the creation of partnerships with external providers.

To provide trend analysis, projections and insights into demographics, sectors, tenure and understanding of membership behaviours.

To lead on national events which provide value for members, attendees and sponsors ensuring effective financial planning and cost control

To review all administrative process and to identify synergies to exploit opportunities to deliver ongoing cost reduction.

To direct and develop the team to ensure that they are appropriately trained (including cross training), motivated and are aligned to, and capable of, supporting the delivery of membership strategy and ultimately of the corporate strategic objectives.

To control and manage the department finances to ensure effective budgeting (including working with other stakeholder departments), cost control, management of debtors and forecasting.

 

Person Specification

Degree educated or equivalent professional industry experience preferred.

Strong leadership skills

The ability to lead in a Matrix environment with a diverse range of stakeholders

Minimum of 5 years experience in customer engagement within a sales or membership management role.

Proven business development experience.

Proven experience  of developing marketing strategies and in delivering successful campaigns to deliver business growth and retention.

Experience of financial management including cost to serve analysis and budget setting

Good PowerPoint and Microsoft office skills.

Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to present and engage internally and externally at a senior level.
